How to Use Hand Therapy Putty?
The resistance of the putty can help strengthen weak hand muscles, improving grip strength following injury, or surgery. So, many of the exercises that use putty involve squeezing, stretching, or pinching motions. With this pack you can work your way up the four resistance levels as your hands get stronger.
Basic Exercises:
There are several simple exercises that can be performed with putty, including;
- Place your putty on a flat surface and then slowly pressing into it with an open hand. Next, roll the palm of your hand over the putty to make a long putty tube. Ball the putty up again, and then repeat the rolling process. Carrying this exercise out 5 to 10 times.
- Another exercise is pinching the putty between each finger and the thumb, squeezing as firmly as possible. Slowly working your way through the hand, to improve your coordination & strength.
