Breathable Wrist Brace

$34.95

A breathable wrist brace can help manage pain and support recovery from conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, mild sprains, and overuse injuries. By providing gentle support, it stabilises the joint, reduces discomfort, and encourages healing. A good fit is essential for comfort and effectiveness, ensuring support without restricting movement. Worn during activities that strain the wrist—like typing, lifting, or repetitive tasks—it can help prevent symptoms from worsening.

Breathable Wrist Brace for Comfortable Everyday Support

Experiencing wrist pain or discomfort? This may be related to injury, repetitive strain, or conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome. In these situations, additional wrist support may help reduce strain and improve comfort during daily activities.

Our Breathable Wrist Brace provides structured wrist support while leaving the fingers and thumb free to move. Its lightweight construction makes it particularly suitable for everyday wear, work and night-time use when more substantial wrist-and-thumb immobilisation is not required.

Wrist braces are commonly used during recovery from sprains and other wrist injuries, as well as for longer-term conditions such as tendon irritation and carpal tunnel syndrome. They may also provide additional support during activities that repeatedly load the wrist.

Benefits of Using a Breathable Wrist Brace

A breathable wrist brace can be a useful aid for managing wrist discomfort while maintaining normal use of the hand and thumb.

  • Comfortable everyday support: Lightweight, breathable materials improve airflow and help reduce heat and moisture build-up during extended wear.
  • Thumb and fingers remain free: Unlike a wrist-and-thumb brace, this design supports the wrist without immobilising the thumb. This makes it particularly practical for everyday tasks.
  • Adjustable wrist stability: Removable metal stays positioned at the front and back provide structured support and allow the level of reinforcement to be adjusted according to your needs.
  • Suitable for night use: The brace can help maintain a more neutral wrist position during sleep, which may be useful for people managing night-time carpal tunnel symptoms.

Wrist Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Wrist Supports

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common nerve compression condition affecting the wrist and hand. Symptoms can include pain, numbness, tingling and reduced grip strength, with symptoms frequently becoming more noticeable at night or during repetitive hand use.

Management depends on the severity and cause of symptoms and may include activity modification, physiotherapy, wrist splinting and, in selected cases, medical or surgical management.

Wrist splints are commonly used to maintain the wrist closer to a neutral position, particularly overnight. For some people with carpal tunnel syndrome, this may help reduce aggravating wrist positions and improve symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Pain or discomfort in the wrist or hand
  • Numbness or tingling, particularly in the thumb, index and middle fingers
  • Symptoms that are worse at night
  • Weakness or reduced grip strength
  • Symptoms aggravated by repetitive hand or wrist activity

A breathable wrist brace may be useful as part of carpal tunnel management by supporting the wrist and helping limit prolonged positions of excessive wrist flexion or extension.

Choosing the Right Wrist Support

The amount of support you need depends on your symptoms, injury and the structures requiring protection. Factors to consider include:

  • The severity of your symptoms
  • The amount of wrist stability required
  • Whether you need wrist support only or additional thumb stabilisation
  • Whether the brace will be worn during the day, at work or overnight
  • Comfort and breathability during prolonged wear

For general wrist support, carpal tunnel symptoms or situations where you want to keep the thumb completely free, the Breathable Wrist Brace is our preferred everyday option.

If your condition also requires thumb stabilisation, a wrist-and-thumb brace may be more appropriate.

Breathable Wrist Brace or Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Support?

These braces serve slightly different purposes. The Breathable Wrist Brace provides dedicated wrist support while leaving the thumb free. The Velpeau Wrist Brace provides more substantial wrist stabilisation together with an independent removable thumb support.

Breathable Wrist Brace Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Support
Wrist support only Wrist + removable thumb support
Shorter, lightweight design Longer, more substantial design
Removable wrist stays Aluminium wrist splints + removable thumb stabiliser
Thumb remains completely free Thumb movement can be restricted when required
Excellent for general wrist support and carpal tunnel night splinting Excellent when greater stability or wrist-and-thumb support is required
Best everyday wrist support Best for greater wrist support or conditions involving the thumb

Not sure which to choose? If your symptoms are primarily in the wrist and you do not need your thumb immobilised, start with the Breathable Wrist Brace. If pain involves the thumb side of the wrist, such as with De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, or you have been advised to restrict both wrist and thumb movement, consider our Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Support.

Tips for Wearing and Maintaining Your Wrist Brace

  • Ensure proper fit: The brace should feel supportive and secure without causing numbness, tingling, colour changes or excessive pressure.
  • Use as required: A wrist brace may be worn during aggravating activities or for specific periods during the day depending on your condition.
  • Night use: For some people with carpal tunnel symptoms, wearing a wrist brace overnight may help prevent prolonged flexed wrist positions during sleep.
  • Maintain movement: Unless immobilisation has specifically been recommended, periods without the brace can be important for maintaining wrist movement and strength.
  • Seek guidance when required: Persistent pain, significant trauma, progressive weakness or ongoing numbness and tingling should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Common Questions

Does this brace support the thumb?
No. The Breathable Wrist Brace is specifically designed to support the wrist while leaving the thumb and fingers free. If you require thumb support, consider the Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Support.

Can I sleep with the wrist brace on?
Yes. Wrist splints are commonly worn overnight, particularly when managing carpal tunnel symptoms. The brace should be comfortably fitted rather than excessively tight.

Can a wrist brace help with carpal tunnel syndrome?
Wrist splinting may help some people manage carpal tunnel symptoms by limiting aggravating wrist positions, particularly during sleep.

Which wrist brace should I choose?
For general wrist support without restricting the thumb, choose the Breathable Wrist Brace. If you require greater wrist stability together with optional thumb immobilisation, the Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Support is the more appropriate option.
